Tim Holtz tags of 2012 - April

Hi everyone,

just a quick post to share with you my tag for April for the Tim Holtz tags of 2012.  I stuck as close to the design as I could given my supplies and changed the colour scheme.  I really enjoyed making this tag, it's something to look forward to every month.  You can see Tim's post here.  So here's my tag:

The tag is cut using Ranger Specialty Stamping paper and Tim Holtz tag die.  I used Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey and Weathered Wood Distress Stains to colour the tag, then I stamped a Tim Holtz script stamp repeatedly to cover the tag with Potter's Clay Memento Dye Ink.  I then flicked water on it to give it a mottled effect.  I stamped the Tim Holtz frame with Perfect Medium and embossed it with Lindy Stamp Gang two-toned embossing powder in Twilight Bronze Slate.  I stamped the Tim Holtz bird on branch with Memento Dye inks in Rich Cocoa and Grape Jelly and the beak with Yellow Citrus ColorBox chalk ink. I then used twine to attach the word band and the philosophy tag, which I dabbed with Snow Cap dauber and then wipped off to leave the paint in the recess.  I distress the edges with Frayed Burlap distress ink.

Enjoy the rest of the week,
Geraldine.

Sun through the clouds canvas and life is good canvas

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.  Today I am sharing with you two canvases I made for  friends.  The first one measures 12x9, which was a good size for me to start out with.  Here's a photo:

This is the second canvas.  It's 8x8.

Here is the video link if you want to watch.

I'm entering both of these project into the Simon Says Stamp and Show anything goes, click here.

Steampunk Style Corset Tag

Hi

I hope everyone is well.  We are having fantastic weather hear this week, lots of sunshine and relaxing.

I want to share with you a tag I made for a swap on Mini Album Scraps, it is a steampunk style swap and this is my interpretation.  We had to make 6 tags, keep one and send 5 and get 5 back in return.

I cut the corset from chipboard using my cricut and the Tie the Knot cartridge and I used the blackout/shadow function.  It is 5.5 inches tall.  I then cut the corset on silver shimmer paper and embossed it using a Cuttlebug folder and inked the embossed image to give it more dimension.  The wings were cut using a Sizzix die and embossed using the clockworks embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I put picket fence Distress stickles over the wings to give them some sparkle.

The gears are cut from red card using Tim Holtz gears die and I put Ranger crackle accents on each of them.  The clock charm is from Lindy Stamp Gang, I love them, but they were a little too shiny for this project so I used espresso alcohol ink to darken them a little.  I used 10mm open roses from Wild Orchid Crafts coloured with Sapphire Glimmer Mist.  The button in the centre of the large gear is from Basic Grey, they are gorgeous.  The trims behind the gears are from a local store.

I really enjoyed making these tags and can't wait to see the tags I get.

Have a great week,
Geraldine.

Mojo230 and Simon Says Stamp Challenges

Hi everyone,
today I want to share with you a card I made for two challenges, Mojo Monday 230 sketch challenge and Simon Says Stamp challenge, it was anything goes ,but the design team were showcasing My Mind's Eye papers and I decided to play along.

The base is an 8x8 inch card blank from Papermania.  All the papers and brads are from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found two collection, mostly from Sunshine and some from Breeze.  The flowers were cut from the Tattered Florals sizzix die by Tim Holtz, and the letters are from Doodlebug as is the blue glitter on them.  I used a Papermania boarder punch to cut the doily edge on th yellow paper.  The leaves are from Prima, so gorgeous.  I've been hoarding everything but it's time to start using the products I love.

Thanks for looking,
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Ger.

12 tags of 2012 - Feburary

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since my last post.  I've been very busy and have moved house.  I'm in the middle of unpacking now, but I just had to find some time to play along with Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2012.

See Tim's post here

I'm not really into Valentines, so I've changed the theme, but tried to incorporate some of his ideas into my tag.

I stamped the text image from the Papillon set with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with seafoam white embossing powder from Heat it Up.  I then coloured the tag with Fired Brick Distress ink with the embossed image as a resist so the text looks great against the red background.  I cut butterflies and the letters from the Crowded Attic paper pack and the pink lace boarder from the Vintage Shabby paper pack.  I used an X-Cut die to cut the boarder.  I adhered the pink boarder and then used my distress tool on the edge of the tag and went over Frayed Burlap Distress ink.  I love that look.  I die cut a heart and pleated tissue tape around it.  I then adhered the heart, the butterflies and the letters with scor-tape.  I used a trinket pin to attach the hearts and a philosophy tag, but before I did this I added white acrylic paint to the philosophy tag and then wiped it off, the paint stayes in the groves.  I hadn't done this technique before and I really like how it looks.

I had fun making this tag and look forward to seeing what Tim comes up with in March and the rest of the year.
